Meeting April Phillips writer of Stiff

I had the honour of meeting April Phillips for the first time in New Zealand last weekend.

April was the keynote speaker at the Music Theatre of New Zealand conference.

Her play Stiff has been produced more than 40 times.

Cast at a recent Australian production complained that it was difficult to rehearse because they had trouble holding back their laughs.

Boy From Oz is Musical of the Year

Congratulations to the Leading Note Theatre ( Ballarat ) for taking out Musical of the Year at the Victorian Music Theatre Guild Awards for their production of The Boy From Oz.

The Great Australian Rock Musical

Well done to the cast and crew of Model Farms High School in Sydney which staged The Great Australian Rock Musical in late November.

I enjoyed attending and seeing the show for the first time. What a great prop they built in the foyer which I stuck my head in.

Pride and Prejudice the Musical - a hit.

The Golden Rivers Theatre (NSW) has completed a successful production of Bernard J Taylor's Pride and Prejudice the Musical. "The season was outstanding and I am amazed at the response to this show! It was a huge hit across Australia - now the NSW community theatre premiere of Keating the Musical is about to take to the stage in Sydney.

WOFTAM productions in Campbelltown is staging the musical from Friday September 30 until October 8.

World Premiere : Pyjamas in Paradise

It’s billed as Australia’s answer to Grease - a home grown musical set by the poolside in Surfers Paradise in the 1950’s and 60’s.

The World Premiere of Pyjamas in Paradise will burst onto the stage of the Gold Coast Arts Centre from Friday September 2 until September 10.
