Emma Wood has been engaged in theatre as an actor and director for many years in different cities in Australia, winning awards for both.

In 2012 her first play, Water Child, was produced by the Newcastle Theatre Company, winning acclaim from critics and audiences. Water Child won Best New Play at the City of Newcastle Drama Awards in 2012, and in 2013 was toured to the Adelaide Fringe festival.

Her second play, Mr Bennet’s Bride, was produced by the same company in 2014, and broke records for audience attendance, putting it in the top three selling plays ever in that company’s fifty seven year history. It received glowing reviews from four critics, as well as enthusiastic audience acclaim.
